THE FOOL
THE FOOL
The ordinary world
What am I missing?
I'd pull a few, journal them, note what I was feeling, close the book. That practice is real. But one day I'm looking at a hard autumn on a single page, and there it is again and again — the Five of Pentacles. The figure in the snow, outside the lit window. Of seventy-eight cards, the one that wouldn't leave was the one my body already read as lack — in the exact stretch the financial floor was giving way under me. Maybe the count was chance. The match wasn't.
The reframe
A single readingis a sentence. Complete. True.
A year of readingsis a novel. One your own cards have been writing.
Most of us have read sentences our whole practice without ever opening the book.
Just put something down — its significance may only be apparent later.
— Mary K. Greer, 1984

THE HIGH PRIESTESS
High Priestess
You already know.
You've felt Death arrive when something was ending. Watched the Queen of Cups follow you through grief. Had a card fall face-up and you just knew.
Behind the veil
The pattern across time.
She's Sophia — keeper of absolute knowledge — sitting between the pillars Boaz and Jachin. Behind her veil she's been holding the pattern across time. Not what one reading told you. What a hundred readings are telling you together.

Journal. Spreadsheet.
App. Napkin.
A journal, a spreadsheet, an app, a napkin — I genuinely do not care. Wen's Holistic Tarot has templates for this. Chang's decan walk is the same impulse. The Chariot is YOUR chariot. Build it however you want.
PULL ONE OF FOUR

WANDS — Record
Pull One · Fire · Intuition
Pull and capture: date, cards, a few words on your life. Don't interpret in the moment. Just capture.
PULL TWO OF FOUR

SWORDS — Frequency
Pull Two · Air · Thinking
After a month: which cards showed up most? Which suits dominate? Clear-eyed analysis applied to the aggregate.
EXERCISE
Here's a sample month. What are the top three cards? What suit leads? Don't interpret any single reading — just look at the frequency. What story does that tell?

Swords 38%  ·  Cups 27%  ·  Major 21%  ·  Wands 9%  ·  Pentacles 5%

You see it.
A card that's been following you. A suit that dominated the exact weeks your life was falling apart. The moment the method stops being an exercise and starts being a mirror.

DEATH
DEATH
What has to die
The habit of treating each reading
as an isolated ritual.
Not your practice — your practice is beautiful. The isolation in which you've been practicing. Pull, interpret, close the circle, each reading its own working. That's real. But it's incomplete.
You already live by cycles
One moon phase isn't
the lunar cycle.
You track the Wheel of the Year. You know Samhain is not Beltane, that October's energy is not April's. You just haven't applied that cyclical awareness to your cards yet.
The caterpillar doesn't become a butterfly.
It becomes goo first.
February 2024.
I pulled Death on the 12th — my rarest card, ten pulls in two years. My sister Julie died on the 18th. Three deaths, three days apart.
I have your sister. She is safe.
— The Morrigan
A single daily pull couldn't hold that. A year of them could.

Wands Cups Swords Pentacles
Queen of Pentacles
She had a project.
My most-pulled card that year, clustering in March and again in November. When I looked at what those windows shared, it was obvious — she had a project I was too close to see day by day. That's the descriptive read, and it's honest. But I'm a systems person — so I had to ask whether she was really beating chance.
An oracle cannot predict a precise event. But it can cast an image of a certain qualitative field of events — a certain psychological probability.
— Marie-Louise von Franz · On Divination and Synchronicity
So I asked von Franz's two questions
Not the card. The field.
The precise card? Chance. No card beats the odds — even the Five of Pentacles that haunted me: my deck clusters some card like that a third of the time.

The qualitative field? Real. The element keeps time with the moment — what I ask and what I live, both. Earth · money   Fire · making   Water · loss   Air + Water · the Morrigan.

The deck didn't pick the card. It kept time with the charge.

Sacred data
A Book of Shadows written
by the cards themselves.
A record of your soul's movement through time. A psychic autobiography — a Book of Shadows written by the cards themselves. Jaye Anne: "This data holds your energetic identity." And when your conscious analysis meets the unconscious signal your cards have been sending — that's the trumpet blast. Something cracks through. You can't unknow it.
Magical sovereignty, applied to information
Don't let them walk
into your data, either.
If you use any digital tool — not just ours — ask the hard questions. Who owns this data? Can you delete it? Export it? Is someone harvesting your energetic identity?

Paper. Pen.
Willingness to look back.
A journal with a monthly grid. Date, cards, notes. The willingness to look back after a month, three months, a year. That's the whole method. If you want to do this entirely analog, by candlelight, in your own handwriting — honor that. You have everything you need.
TAROTPULSE — HOW WE CHOSE TO SOLVE IT

THE FOOL RETURNS
THE FOOL RETURNS
Literally nothing is random. If you think something randomly happened — that's the thing to look at.
— Jaye Anne Beringer
You now have a method to listen
Start tonight.
Pull your cards. Write them down. Do it tomorrow. And the next day. Track the moon through a full cycle. Then look back.
The cards were never just answering your questions.
They were writing your story.

Now you know how to read it.
Stay feral, folks.
